Review: Oskia Renaissance Mask

Hello Everyone,

Today, I am gonna talk about the award winning mask from British skincare company Oskia - Renaissance Mask

A little bit of background before I start - I have extremely problematic skin - dehydrated oily-combination skin with dry spots around my mouth and nose and very old acne scars. All problems that one can imagine! To make things worse, I was breaking out severely because of some health issues. To combat this, in addition to making and amping up my skin care I changed a few things in diet like a dose of apple cider vinegar, couple of fruits a day and water melon juice and not to mentioned liters of water to just flush out the gunk from my body.

One such thing that I wanted to really include more frequently was a face mask that was nourishing and had brightening properties. I heard a lot of British bloggers raving about this mask and ever since I wanted to splurge and was gathering courage to spend £50.0 on a 50 ml jar of  face mask. One day when I was really depressed with my skin I gave in to the temptation to try this luxurious mask (thanks to my friend Rashmi) and placed an order on Cult Beauty

To start with the packaging this mask comes in an obnoxiously larger outer cardboard box, and what comes out is relatively smaller glass tub with a salmon colored gooey and solidified gel like thing, which actually is the mask. Once you rip open the jar there is a separator lid and a spatula to take out the product, which is awesome for a jar packaging!

Before jumping in the tub of goodness, just throwing in some knowledge on science  behind this mask gathered from Wikipedia and other websites about Lactic Acid. This mask is a Lactic Acid, a type of Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), based treatment mask which has exfoliating properties revealing younger looking smoother skin. AHA's are derived from fruits and milk sugars - Lactic Acid being derived from milk of course. It is believed that AHA's reduce the appearance of wrinkles, making it smoother and with regular use it can reduce uneven skin tone and hyper-pigmentation. It also believed to help improve the production of collagen improving skin's elasticity.

Now, lets talk about the mask - when you see it in the jar it looks like a solidified gel. But, when u rub it on the skin, it turns white and becomes creamy and milky - its a Lactic Acid mask after all. However, it again turns gel like, shiny transparent film on the skin in few minutes after applying. Not to mention it smells divine.

It is recommended to keep this mask on for about 15-20 minutes but for much better results I prefer keeping it on for about an hour. Guys, the difference is noticeable and amazing. I can see my active zits and acne dry sooner when I apply this mask and my skin is so supple, bright, awake and smooth like a baby's butt. Though, I would say that there is minimal affect on my scars and pigmentation, the texture of my skin has improved and it is smooth like never before. I do not have many wrinkles per say so, I am not very sure of how it would work on them.

I consider this mask more of morning mask when you want that kick for your skin to look nicer and brighter through the day.

In the past what ever masks that I have used, I have noticed that affect doesn't last for many days, but, with this mask - the glow and brightness lasts for couple of days.

It is also recommended to use this mask twice a week, but, mid-week I use a clay based mask to unclog my pores and cleanse in general. So, effectively I use this once a week and I can see the difference in the quality of my skin (of course credit goes to my current skin care regime and changed eating style also).

EDIT: Don't forget to apply sunscreen post using this mask, which is a must after exfoliating your skin.

I have been using this mask for over a couple months now and I will recommend it to all, of course if you are ready to splurge!

Before, I end the post I would like to add a disclaimer sort that I am not a skin expert and I recommend you do your research well, if this mask will work for you, before splurging on this mask.

Hope this review was helpful!

Rose Toned Smokey Eyes | ft. Natasha Denona 5 Eye Shadow Palette No. 05

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are doing well and those in Mumbai are enjoying splendid rains.

Over the weekend, I decided to play with my Natasha Denona 5 Colour Eye Shadow Palette No. 05 and created this smokey eyes look with rose tones as a central theme and taking a break from warm eye shadows and I really loved the way this look turned out.

I was in a mood for all out smokey eyes look and used a bunch of eye shadows. To start with I used Make-up Geek Creme Brule and Poppy eye shadows as transition colors in the crease and Bitten to deepen the crease. To further deepen the outer crease and outer corner I used the darkest shade from Natasha Denona Palette and Urban Decay Blackheart (from Naked III palette) to further smoke out the look. On the lid I used the left most eye shadow and the lightest shade in the inner corners from the Natasha Denona palette. Repeated the same on lower lash line. For impeccable volume and length in my lashes I used Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lash Mascara (a sample of which was provided by the Beautylish team along with my latest order).

For a nearly, because let's be real with too many dark spots and poke marks flawless base is impossible for me, flawless base I used my Marc Jacobs Trio.

For contouring + bronzing + highlight I used my trustee Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow and to maintain the Rose tones I used Chanel Rose Initiale as blush and Tom Ford Indian Rose on my lips. As you can see, I went crazy heavy with my highlight. I also defined my nose a little bit and strategically placed the highlight on tip and on the bridges of nose (portion of the nose between eyes) to get an illusion of longer and slender nose.

I hope you guys liked the look as much as I liked.

Lots of love

Dewy Fresh Look | Dewy Glowing Skin, Soft Eyes & Bright Orange Lips

Hello Guys,

When in hurry I am generally a bright lipstick fan - a bright lipstick just takes the attention away from all the flaws that I have elsewhere! Orange and bright orangey-red lipsticks have been my go-to this past month.

The star of this look is Jeffree Star's Velour Liquid Lipstick in Anna Nicole which is a bright in your face ORANGE - definitely not for those with a faint heart. However, I feel that orange/ bright orangey red is such a beautiful colour for us warm and olive skin toned Indian women.

When wearing a bright lipstick like Jeffree's Anna Nicole, I prefer going easy with eyes and skin and let the lipstick be the focal point. As you can see, I have kept my eyes very soft with some warm shades to define and pull them up for a lifted look and I have not gone bonkers with bronzer (as in my previous look) in pursuit of fresher looking skin.

In order to get a flawless base, I used fuller coverage foundation (Marc Jacobs trio) to hide all the imperfections that I have on my face and Charlotte Tilbury's flawless finish air brush powder in Dark to seal everything in place. At this stage I bathed in my MAC Fix+, as I was planning to use cream/ liquid products afterwards which would have conflicted with powder in absence of Fix+. To get the look of fresher skin, I went with a cream blush (Tom Ford's Pink Sand) and liquid highlighter on high points of my face (Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal - liquid).

Summer Bronze Make-up Look - f/t New and Old Favourite Products

I am sure we are over summers now and eagerly waiting for rain Gods to shower. At least I am over humid summers but not with summer make-up trends - once such favourite trend us super bronzed glowing skin with bronze glitter eyes and bright pink lips.

For this look I have used my old favourite Nars Casino bronzer with my newest possession from Tom Ford - Cream to Powder eye shadow duo in Naked Bronze and Becca Shimmering Skin Perfecter in Opal Pressed for the glow. Love TF Naked Bronze eye shadow duo, which has a combination of a cream and matching pressed glitter. I had my eyes on it since it was released last summer and I am so glad that I could lay my hands on it - it's an instant glam in pot and very convenient to travel with.

For bright pink I chose Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Tumultous Pink (#240) with Chanel Lip Pencil in Fuchsia to perfect the edges.

For soft rosey flush I used Chanel JC blush in Rose Initiale.

In my opinion, this is a great look to wear all year round and its glamorous yet very easily wearable.

I hope you guys liked the look.
