Review: Chanel Jous Contrast Blush in Rose Initiale

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are happy and healthy and enjoying the pleasant weather, if you are in Mumbai.

Rose Initial is very soft and subtle petal pink with a slight hint of peach and very very fine shimmer, which is not visible on my skin. The pigments of this blush are very finely milled and are easy to blend. The wear time of this blush is also great and I did notice it fading unevenly or getting patchy over the day. It has a strong rose fragrance, which fades away on applying, which could be a cause of concern for those with sensitive nose.  I like that the pigmentation of this blush is buildable and can be very easily controlled or should I say, you can't go wrong with it. Because of slight warm undertones, I see this blush suiting a wide variety of skin tones. However, darker and deeper skin color babes may find it difficult to pull out. Great for those with lighter to medium colored babes while it will be a soft flush for babes with some tan.

I have been using this blush left, right and center every other day and with just about every look. This is a no fuss blush for me. It imparts a soft focus rosy flush on my cheeks which I have been loving lately. For the sake of taking pictures for this review, I had to really build it up so that it did not get washed out! If you are a fan of highly pigmented blushes, then this blush is not for you. Not that I am not a fan of highly pigmented blushes, but, I am loving the soft focus flush that this blush gives.

The product comes in the Chanel's standard sturdy black plastic compact with mirror and a brush to use the blush on the go. I, however, never use the brush and usually toss it away. They can probably do away with the brush to reduce the compact size and also the price a bit :-/!

Price: INR 2850/- for 4 gms / 0.14 oz. A very expensive blush indeed. How much expensive is justified for a blush is left to your judgement, but, so far I have no complaints.

Here are a few pictures and swatches of the blush and a few pictures of my recent FOTDs.

I hope you guys liked the review and found it helpful!

Review: Chanel Le Vernis Nail Color #455 Lotus Rouge

Hey Guys

Hope you guys are happy and healthy.

As the winters have finally arrived in Mumbai, weather being windy, sunny and pleasantly colder, it has started to feel a lot like Christmas.  This is probably the best time of the year in Mumbai, in terms of weather and at the same time Christmas and New Year decorations in the stores is like cherry on the cake.

This is the season when one wants to pull out the red make-up be it lipsticks or nail polishes. And if, mistakenly, you happen to have a soft corner for red then any amount of red nail polishes and lipsticks are not enough in your stash. Every time you buy new red, nail polish or lipstick, you try to justify with the tini-tiny shade difference, texture, formula, etc. Well, ya know, I am one of those red nail polish and lipstick lover.

So, as the weather was really pleasant and cold (for Mumbai standards) I pulled out my newest red nail polish, which was lying unattended to for a longtime, Chanel Le Vernis in Lotus Rouge. Lotus Rouge is a very pretty blue based deep pinkish red in cream finish. Two coats give you the most luxurious shining goodness on your nails. However, it did not cover my voting mark. Chanel makes the best polishes I must say. Not even a single shade that I own has ever made me regret over the deep hole that it causes in my pocket.

I applied it on Sunday early in morning and today on Tuesday, it still as good as it was freshly applied and I don't see any signs of the polish chipping soon. I expect its wear time to be as good as my other Chanel cream nail polishes. This is not the first time that I have applied this nail polish, but, I don't remember when was the last time I used and how it performed. So, if there is any change it's performance, I will update it here next week.

I hope you guys liked Lotus Rouge. Which is your favorite red this season?

Review: The Balm Cosmetics Cindy Lou Manizer - Blush, Highlighter and Shadow

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

I am currently in glow and highlight mode. I am in love with everything that makes my skin glowing and highlighted.

I had my eyes on this multitasking blush + highlighter + shadow from The Balm Cosmetics ever since it's launched internationally and I saw some breathtaking pictures of Cindy Lou Manizer  by very talented and lovely Jaa here

As per The Balm cosmetics, Cindy Lou Manizer is "An all in one essential, this smart shadow, beautiful blush and subtle highlighter is tucked inside a gow every-where compact. The light reflecting peachy pink hue adds a splash of color to your cheeks and hint shimmer to your lids, while illuminating your finest features."

Cindy Lou Manizer is a very finely milled, buttery smooth powder that has enough color to be worn as a blush and subtle shimmer to be worn as a face highlighter. One can also use it as a shadow or as inner corner highlight with a smokey eye look. I am love with the unique peachy-pink hue hat this product imparts. The pigment is slightly loosely packed and you need tiniest amount to get the glow and the shimmer is really fine to provide a subtle highlight and not shine, if that bothers you. My skin lately is more combination than oily and this product doesn't make it look oily either.

The powder comes in a silver plastic mirrored compact which is sleek and sturdy to throw in your purse. The product quantity is really huge as a little goes a long way and it is practically impossible for to use this product up in my life time.

Price: USD 24.00 for 0.3 oz/ 8.5gms

Overall, Cindy Lou Manizer is a finely milled powder that is multi tasking that can be used as a blush, highlighter or shadow. The peachy-pink hue is very unique and gorgeous which I haven't seen before.

Hope you liked the product and found the review helpful. Which is your favorite highlighter currently?

Lots of Love

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick for a Candlelight Glow

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

According to Bobbi Brown "Nothing lights up your face than shimmer". For a million dollar shine and glow, Bobbi Brown created shimmer bricks.

I picked up mine very recently in color Beige. Beige, as described on the Bobbi Brown, website provides candle light glow and will work well with peach and pink blushes.

When you see the product, the colors look very boring and neutral. But, when they are mixed together, they gives metallic shine wherever you apply. The shine is very similar to what I get from my Estee Lauder's Highlighter in Modern Mercury. The Beige shade looks very similar to Dior's Amber Diamond, but, the shine is impeccable. I am short of words to describe how beautiful it looks. Especially now during winters when rest of the world is gloomy, the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick will make you glow and shine high.

I like applying it using a small fluffy brush such as Sigma E40 and on the high points of face, cheek bones, cupid's bow, bridge of the nose, and tip of the nose. It doesn't make my combination skin look oily or cakey and hasn't broken me out.

As for the product, it comes in a black plastic compact with a mirror. I feel that the compact size is too bigger for the amount of product (10.3 gms). But, for a delicate product like this much size is important for to travel safely through continents. Thankfully it doesn't come with a brush which would have further increased the size of the compact and not to mention, price.

I purchased mine from Bobbi Brown's New Delhi store for INR 2500.00, which I feel is quite reasonable as very little goes a long way and worth the every penny.

Left to Right: Swatches from Darkest to Lightest in the Pan, Last Swatch with all colors blended together

I hope you guys liked the review. I am now eyeing Nector and Copper & Diamond Shimmer Bricks.

To my American readers, a very Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you all are having a great time with your families.

Lots of Love

Kylie Jenner AMA 2014 Red Carpet inspired make-up look

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

I have been missing in action lately every year. There are many reasons for being missing. But, one needs just one kick to get the b**t moving and I got that kick when I saw pictures of Kylie Jenner at AMA 2014 red carpet. Her floating burgandy gown, her laid back casual hair and her flawless make-up. I just loved everything about her.

I researched a bit on Kylie makeup online and found out that the makeup artist Rob Scheppy went with matte skin and defined brows, full lashes and to compliment her gown he used M.A.C. Cosmetics Burgandy lip pencil on her lips with a bit lip balm for hydration. He used Eyeko products on her eyes, lashes and brows, MUFE base products and Charlotte Tilbury filmstar bronze and glow.

Sadly, I had only Burgandy lip pencil in stash, so tried to re-create her look with what I have. Originally, the MUA has not used any blush on her but, I felt, the over all look better with blush on me. And I am not wearing any false lashes!

Review: MAC Lipstick in Syrup

Hey Guys,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

I went to M.A.C. store recently to take advantage of back to M.A.C. program. I was planning to get Shy Girl but it was not in stock in of the stores. So, I settled down with Syrup, oh well not a chocolate or strawberry syrup, but a lipstick that I am talking about here.

MAC Syrup is described as cloudy pink, which is a cool toned pinkish mauve. Syrup could be a great staple in your stash for days when you don't want to look too made up but yet sophisticated. Luster finish makes it a lot more comfortable to wear and is definitely moisturizing. Luster finish lipsticks usually last on me for about 3-4 hours and when paired with M.A.C. lip liner in Dervish, it lasts pretty longer. Though, Syrup is a  from the family cool toned of colors, I feel it would look lovely on a wide range of skin tones. M.A.C. have increased their product pricing in India and their lipsticks now cost INR 990/-, so, I feel lucky!.

Overall, I feel Syrup is a lovely pinkish mauve for relaxed days which would look good on just about every skin tone. Not a must have, but, a nice shade to have in stash.

Have you taken advantage of back to M.A.C. recycling program recently?

Have a lovely weekend.

Lots of Love
