Sparkling freshwater blue make-up tutorial!

Hello Everyone

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

I have been really slow in posting these days. The reason being BAD natural lighting as it rained throughout the past week. I highly depend on natural light for taking my pictures, so all the pictures that I took last week were absolutely gross and not worth posting. Today, however, was bright and sunny throughout the day and I squeezed out some time to do a make-up tutorial. This look is very bright and fun, inspired by sparkling & crackling fresh water.

Here is a list of products used to create this look :

Face:
  • Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation #24 Beige Ambre (Review here)
  • MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer in NC42 (Under Eyes)
  • MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC42 (Blemishes)
  • MAC MSF Natural in Medium-Dark
  • Nars Bronzer in Laguna
  • MAC Powder Blush in Pinch o'peach
  • MAC Cream Color Base in Hush
Eyes:
  • MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
  • MAC Eyeshadows: Freshwater, Shimmermoss, Humid, Shroom, Reflects in Transparent Teal
  • Lancôme Kohl in Love in Deepwater Blue (review here)
  • Clinique Gel eyeliner in True Black
  • Maybelline the Falsies Mascara
Lips:
  • Combo of MAC Lipglass - Cultures, Lychee Luxe & Pink Lemonade
Here is the step by step tutorial to get the look:
  • Step 1: Primed my lids using MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
  • Step 2: Apply MAC Freshwater eye shadow on inner and outer third of the lids
  • Step 3: Pack MAC eye shadow in Shimmermoss in the center of the lid
  • Step 4: Blend Humid in the crease

  • Step 5: Apply the three eye shadows under the lower lashline

  • Apply 6: Lancôme Kohl in Deepwater Blue in lower water line and tightline upper water line using Inglot Black Kohl
  • Step 7: Highlight the inner tear duct and brows using MAC eye shadow in Shroom
  • Apply 8: Apply black liner on the upper lash line and finish the look with couple of coats mascara
  • Step 9: Pack Reflects in Transparent Teal in the center of the lid and in the inner third of lower lash line. The reflect applied on the lid takes the look to different level and makes it very sparkling.

Here are few more pictures of the whole look:

I hope you all liked the look. This is kind of over the top look, you can decide for yourself where you would like to wear this look.

Have a lovely week ahead.

Lots of Love

Review: Lancôme Hypnose Star Waterproof Mascara - This 'star' didn't shine for me!

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

Ever since Lancôme launched the Hypnose Star Show Stopper Volume mascara internationally, I wanted to get my hands on it. Oh God I waited for it so much. So, as soon as it was launched in India last month or in April, I went to the Lancôme store and to my own surprise I fell pray to the sales assistant and bought myself the water proof version, while I wanted to buy the normal non water-proof version which is 300 bucks more expensive than the normal one and has smaller brush than the normal one. Unfortunately, I don't have the normal one to show you the comparison pictures.

Show stopping volume mascara that provides weightless volume, luscious length, 24 hour wear.

Weightless Volume, Defined and Lengthened Lashes

Dual sided brush perfectly coats lashes and maximizes the performance of the long wearing, waterproof formula. The result is layerable, weightless volume and luscious length that lasts 24 hours.

I so wanted to like this mascara, but, not all things come to those who wait. I wish it delivered the results claimed by the company. It didn't do any thing great to my lashes. It neither volumizes nor elongate the lashes. It even worse. The before and after picture will tell you the rest of the story.

Bare lashes
Hypnose Star Mascara on upper and lower lashes
With black kohl in the waterline
This mascara disappointed me a lot especially because I just loved the Doll Eyes (review here) and the volumizing effect it gave to my lashes was just out of this world. I so wanted to like it, but, it just failed to impress in all the departments.

Packaging wise, it comes a lovely black tube with has galaxial glitter which makes it super pretty. But, what's the fun in having a beautifully packed product which doesn't hold good to all the claims.

Price: INR 1900/- for water proof and INR 1500/- for non-waterproof

For the price point of a high end mascara, it absolutely failed to impress. There are much better mascaras in the drug store that deliver better results than this. I so wish I could rewind the time and undo this purchase. Initially I wanted to try the non-waterproof version of it, but, with such poor performance of water proof version, I am skeptical about giving non-waterproof version a try.

I hope you all found the review helpful.

Have a lovely week ahead.

Lots of Love

How about red lips on a rainy day?

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

Last Sunday we planned to go to Barbeque Nation for dinner with a few friends. This restaurant has very chic ambiance and amazing barbeque veggies and kababs, which I LOVE. I usually don't plan my makeup for such outings with friends in advance but the beautiful YouTube beauty guru Chloe Morello's clubbing makeup tutorial aired just at the right time. So, cutting long story short everything was well planned (oh yes, including the makeup, I do it sometimes) but the weather that day at plans otherwise. It was windy, a bit chilly and drizzling and we had the most amazing weather in Mumbai after a long time. And we wanted to enjoy the weather rather than sitting in an air-conditioned restaurant. So, at the last moment we cancelled the dinner at BN and instead decided to go for a long drive, as all of us were loving the weather.

I decided to give my make-up also a bit of twist rather a change at the last moment (my eyes were already done the moment we changed our plan) with red lips along with the eye makeup shown in Chole Morello's Clubbing makeup video. Red lips, because, however, we were enjoying the colder weather, but it was all gloomy and dark. Red lips seemed perfect to me and I think the look turned out quite well, and thought why not share with you all. Most importantly pictures turned out well than I expected, as the lighting that day was really pathetic for taking make-up pictures.

Here is the list of products I used for the look:

Face:

  • Guerlain Parur Aqua Feel Good Foundation #23 & Nars Sheer Glow foundation in Stromboli
  • MAC Studio Finish Concealer in NC 42 for blemishes
  • MAC Pro Longwear Concealer in NC 42 for under eyes
  • MAC MSF Natural in Medium Dark
  • Nars Blush in Amour
  • Nars Bronzer in Laguna
  • Dior Amber Lights highlighting powder - high points of my cheek bones, bridge of nose & cupid's bow
Eyes:
  • Urban Decay Naked Palette - Sidecar, Naked, Virgin
  • MAC Eyeshadow - Cordura & Carbon
  • Clinique Gel eyeliner in True Black - blended using MAC Carbon and Cordura eyeshadows
  • Inglot Black Kohl
  • Rimmel Scandal eyes mascara - black
Lips:
  • MAC Lipliner in Cherry
  • MAC Russian Red lipstick
Here are few close-up pictures of eyes and lips:

I hope you all liked the re-creation of the look with a bit of twist. What do you think about red lips on rainy days. To me, red lips are all time favorite, just needs to feel comfortable & confident about it. What say, red lips during rainy season - yay or nay? Which will be your favorite lip color during rainy days?

Have a wonderful week ahead.

Lots of Love

Chocolate Brown Smokey eyes using MAC Chocolate Brown pigment - I feel extremely happy when I rediscover products lying somewhere back in my stash

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

While I was just going through my considerably large make-up collection which I have made over last couple of years, I found this beautiful pigment from MAC called Chocolate Brown. I have this pigment from a long time and didn't use it for like more than a year. I feel ashamed that I didn't use this pigment much as I used to love it so much. This pigment is so versatile that you can use it round the year, just pair an appropriate lipstick/ blush to suit the season. Anyways, I am happy that I could use it today to create a smokey eye look which is perfect for summers.

Chocolate Brown, Chocolate copper/ bronze, is a BEAUTIFUL shimmery rich brown shade with red / burgundy undertones. This is an absolute stunner shade. I feel like kicking my a** for not using it much for such a long time.

Here are few pictures and swatches of this beautiful pigment.

For today's look I have paired it with a coral blush and nude pink lips.

Here is the list of products used to create the look:

Face:
  • Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation (review here)
  • MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NC42
  • MAC Studio Finish concealer in NC42
  • MAC Mineralize Skin Finish Natural - Medium Dark Shade
  • MAC Bronzer in Refined Golden
  • Nars blush in Torrid (review here)
  • Dior Powder Highlighter in Amber Diamond (review here)
Eyes:
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion
  • MAC Eyeshadows/ Pigments: Texture, Handwritten, Vanilla Pigment, Chocolate Brown Pigment
  • Urban Decay 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Zero, Inglot Kohl in Black (review here)
  • Maybelline Th e Falsies Drama mascara
Lips:
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Hydrating Lipstick in Organdi Rose
  • MAC Lipglass in Nymphette
Here are a few simple steps to create this smokey eye look using Chocolate Brown Pigment
  • After priming your lids, apply UD 24/7 Zero eye pencil on outer 2/3rd of upper lash line and smudge smudge and wing it out.
  • Apply Texture e/s in the crease and blend it up to the brow bone
  • Apply Handwritten eyeshadow in the outer V
  • Apply Chocolate Brown pigment on the lid
  • Apply Vanilla pigment in the tear duct and on the highest point of brow arch
  • Finished it with black kohl in the water line and black mascara
Here are a few more pictures of the look and some close-up of eyes:

I hope you all liked the pigment and the smokey eye look. Are you going to give this pigment a try? Have you rediscovered a product from your stash lately which you used to love a lot? Do share your stories with me in the comments below, I would love to hear and know who all are with me in this crime of collecting & forgetting make-up products.

Hope you all had a great Thursday and wishing you a great Friday and weekend ahead.

Lots of Love

Review: Dior Vernis Extreme Wear Nail Lacquer in Nirvana

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

I am really excited about sharing this product with you guys today. A few weeks ago I went out shopping with a dear friend and she swatched this nail polish on her nails and when I saw it I knew that I had to have it. Before I saw this shade I was very much sure of buying a nude shade but when I had to finalize I bought Nirvana. So, apart from my 'hot pink' nail polish and lips fever, I have been obsessed with this nail polish a lot. I am totally blown away with this nail polish.

Nirvana was launched with Rock Your Nails collection last year, almost around the same time and with a little bit of research on Google I came to know that this was the hottest selling shade from the collection. I read some reviews of this shade after having purchased (to know what generally everybody thinks about this shade), I was not surprised by the rave reviews for this product. While I was reading all those reviews, I read in one of the blog reviews that Dior describes Nirvana as Gray Green, I, however, could not find the shade description anywhere on the Dior website. To me Nirvana is a clear teal shade which is super pretty, and yes great for summers.

I have used a couple of Dior nail polishes earlier, which I loved, and this was no different. Its super pigmented, long wearing and has a million dollar shine. In one coat you get almost the full coverage and with two coats, bang on full coverage. In the pic below, I am wearing only one coat on my pinky. You can hardly see any difference between two coats and single coats. On my nails Dior nails polishes last for almost a week with minor tip wear. In a nutshell, this nail polish is everything that a designer luxury nail polish should be.

Nirvana's formula is creamy and flows through the nail very easily without dragging or tugging. The application is very smooth and even, without being streaky or with bubbles.

Dior polishes come in sturdy glass bottle with a pull of silver cap. I love the packaging of Dior polishes, its simple and very sophisticated. The brush has a curved tip, which almost takes the shape of root of the nail, and is broader which makes the application much easier.

Price: INR 1650/- for 10 ml of product.

Overall, if you are ready to spend a bomb on a nail polish and are not shy of wearing bold nail colors, do give it a try. You will love it.

Here are some more pictures of the product:

I hope you all found the review helpful and liked the color. Have you tried Dior nail polishes? Which is your favorite shade?

Have a wonderful week ahead.

Lots of Love
