MAC Strength Collection for Spring 2013: Pink Pigeon Lipstick - Pictures & FOTD

Hello Everyone

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

MAC Cosmetics recently launched the Strength Collection in India. MAC Cosmetics describes the collection as below:

Colour is a vehicle for women to flex their femininity, and M•A•C’s new collection reflects this state of mind and style. It starts with dramatic eyes and lips pumped up with vivid colour to project power while cheeks are softly chiseled with natural tones. And, nailing it for overall presentation, M•A•C’s high-gloss Nail Lacquer.

This collection has enticing vivid shades of lipsticks, bright fuchsia, violet, red and blackened brown. The shade which attracted me most was Pink Pigeon. It's a lovely neon pink with hint of violet. On my NC40ish skintone the hint of violet is very prominent. Perfect shade for Spring/ Summer.

I think that, this shade is very similar to MAC's Show Orchid (review here) sans the violet frost/ shimmer in Show Orchid. However, I have to still swatch the two lipsticks side by side to see if they are really similar. Will post the swatches of Pink Pigeon, a few comparison swatches and a complete review soon.

As of now, I am loving the lipstick in terms of it's formula, texture, pigmentation and wear time.

Here are a few pictures of the lipstick and a quick FOTD I did using this lovely shade:

Review: MAC Powder Blush in Mocha - For a Natural Flush of Color

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

I was a bit lazy and was not feeling up to the mark to post anything, even though I have lot of stuff piling. Because of really warm and humid weather in Mumbai, I didn't feel like much make-up. MAC Powder blush in Mocha is one such blush which is made for those lazy days and refreshes the whole look. Easy to wear no fuss blush. Also, if you are in the mood to go heavy with eyes/ lips but not sure of blush, Mocha is the best bet.

Describes by MAC as "Plum-Pink", it's a light pink shade (not a bubblegum or barbie pink) with very minute hint of plum. Doesn't look like you have applied blush on your cheeks however heavily you build it up. It is barely there on my NC40 (MAC Foundation) skintone. A great pick for lovelies with fair to medium skintone, will not be great for lovelies with darker skin, it could look ashy.

What I really like about this blush is being a matte finish blush, this does't look chalky or patchy. It's smooth and easy to blend. Decent pigmentation, but, the color itself is such that however heavy you build it up it will never be too much. I had a tough time taking pictures for the FOTD with this blush as it hardly shows up on me. This blush has decent staying power, stays for good 6+ hours on me without fading or moving. So, a no fuss blush.

Price: INR 1350/-

Overall, I would say it's a no fuss easy to wear blush for those lazy days when you just want a slight barely there flush of color on your cheeks. I also like wearing it sometimes when I am going heavy with eyes or/ and lips. Having said that, not a must have shade, but if you are make-up hoarder, it's nice to have such easy going shades in your stash. Those with darker skin, be careful, it could look ashy on you.

Here are few pictures, swatches and me wearing this blush (Hope you can see the blush on me)

Hope you all liked the blush and found the review helpful.

Have a great Easter Weekend.

Lots of love

Review: MAC Mineralise Blush Gleeful

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

Before we jump to the review, you guys can now find me on Bloglovin and Google+ and continue reading my stuff. Below are the links to find me on Bloglovin and Google+. I have also provided the links all the Social Networking platforms that I use on the side bar of the website (Your Right Hand Side).

Bloglovin : You can find me here

Google+ : You can find me here

Apart, from these two Social Networking platforms, you can also find me on Twitter - here

Coming on to the subject of the post. MAC Mineralise Blush in Gleeful described as "deep dirty blue pink with gold pearl", which to me is an absolutely incorrect description. At least, it doesn't has anything blue in it. To me it's a dirty reddish peach blush with gold pearl. The color is beautiful and it looks as beautiful on skin as it looks in the pan. The golden pearl in the blush gives a lovely glow which I really really adore. This shade is perfect for spring/ summer for the fresh look that it gives.

This blush will suit warm skintones really well. Great for Indian and Asian skintones. Since, this blush has red undertones, people with redness on their cheeks will have to conceal the redness properly, otherwise this blush will enhance the redness.

It's a very pigmented blush and just a little bit can goes a long way. This blush is not as buttery smooth as my other Mineralise Blushes from MAC. However, this blends very easily and doesn't look patchy or powdery. This blush stays put decently for around 6+ hours on my oily skin during this warm (read hot) weather.

Price: INR 1400/- for 3.5 gms. For the pigmentation that this blush has, this quantity is going to last for ages.

Overall, it's a nice blush to have in your stash. Great for those with warm skin, but those with redness on cheeks will have to be careful. Very nicely pigmented, that a little bit goes a long way.

Below are the pictures & swatches of the blush and me wearing this lovely blush to show you how it looks my NC40ish skin tone:

I hope that you found the review helpful and liked the blush on me.

Have a lovely weekend.

Lots of Love

Review: Nars blush in Desire - Desire for Spring/ Summer

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

Wow, second Nars blush review in a row. I am loving my Nars blushes which I have collected in last few months. I have collected quite a few of them and I will be reviewing them all one by one. They are super pigmented, easily blend-able and come in different finishes and have some REALLY provoking names. Here, one such blush called 'Desire'. Just a glimpse at will provoke you to desire for 'Desire'.

Nars describes this blush as "Cotton Candy Pink". It's a vibrant blue based magenta-pink with matte finish. It is insanely pigmented that you will have to work very little to show up on your skin. You need very tiny amount to get the color on your cheek. Desire is one of those blushes from Nars which require careful application, otherwise it will give a clown like look. Just tap once or twice (do no swirl) lightly in the pan and you will get an amazing pink flushed cheeks.

It is somewhat less creamier than some of its shimmer blushes (like Sin and Orgasm), but, it doesn't require much effort to blend and doesn't go patchy, at all.

I am really impressed with it staying power, it stays for good 10+ hours on my skin, which is getting oilier as the climate is getting warmer day by day. Even after 10 hours the blush is as fresh as recently applied, which is awesome.

Price: USD 28 for 4.8 gms.

Overall, a great blush for everyone from palest skin tones to darker skin tones, with a warning for paler beauties to be more careful to avoid clown like face. Easily blend-able and long wearing. Great for Spring/ Summer season.

Here are pictures, swatches and me wearing this lovely blush:

I hope you all found the look helpful and liked the blush on me. Which is your favorite shade for Spring/ Summer, bright pinks or corals/ orange?

Have a lovely week ahead.

Review: Nars Blush in Torrid

Hello Everyone

Hope you all are happy and healthy. Finally, I am back to blogging after a while. Had been extraordinarily busy with work for last few days (was even working the whole weekend). Feels nice to be here.

It's getting warmer and warmer everyday in Mumbai and a more warmer (read 'hot') summer staring at us. So, the season take out all your warmer shades of make-up has come.

I am reviewing a beautiful coral blush from Nars Cosmetics called 'Torrid'. The company describes the shade as "warm coral with golden shimmer", very rightly described. A perfect coral blush for summers with very minimal shimmer which translates into a lovely golden sheen. You can see shimmer in the palette but by the time it reaches your skin, shimmer disappears (I couldn't notice shimmer on my skin). It will suit a beauties with warmer undertones a lot and hence a perfect coral for Indians and Asians at large.

The powder is very finely milled for super smooth & easy blendability and superb color-pay off. Nars blushes are famous for their buttery smooth texture and this blush is no different from all other blushes that I have tried so far. The pigments of this blush are such that you can apply it sheer and load it for true to the pan shade. Nars blushes are also famous for their longevity, and again this blush lasts very long on me. On  my oily skin during these warmer days, it lasted for about 8+ hours without fading. Even after 8 hours it looked as if I had freshly applied. After, 9 hours or so I could notice slight fading.

This blush is often compared with Nars Orgasm (Review here) or rather considered a better alternative because of load of shimmer in the Orgasm blush. To me Orgasm is more peachy-pink, whereas Torrid is true coral, with hint of reddish-orangey-peach, if that makes sense! I have picture and swatches of both the blushes side by side for you to compare yourself. Well, I still like my Orgasm blush, especially when I have a done a heavy duty eye makeup.

Price: USD 29.00 for 4.8 gms of quantity, which is huge and will last forever, as you need very little quantity to get the warm coral glow, unless you want to really go heavy with the application.

Overall, its a lovely warm coral blush, perfect for summers and and for beauties with warmer skintones. Shimmer isn't too much but more of a golden sheen, so, a great pick for those who like coral blushes and doesn't like shimmer overload. So, a great coral blush for everyday for a warm summery glow To me it is not a shimmer-less alternative for Orgasm blush.

Hope can see tiny golden shimmer particles.

As you can see, shimmer hasn't transferred on the skin

Left: Torrid, Right: Orgasm
Bottom: Torrid, Top: Orgasm
The shade difference is clearly visible
Here are some pictures of me wearing this lovely coral blush and also side by side pictures of me wearing Torrid and Orgasm.

Left: Torrid, Right: Orgasm
If you can notice, Orgasm is more peachy-pink than Torrid
I hope you all found the review of some help and liked the blush on me.

Have a lovely week ahead. I have a hectic week at work.

Lots of love

Review: Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lash Effect Mascara

Hello Everyone

Hope you all are doing well and are happy and healthy.

If you want to sport wide-eye make-up and want your lashes to have exceptional doll like length and volume then Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Lash Effect Mascara is for you.

What the company says about this mascara?
Lancôme's most flirtatious lash look. A volumized, extended and full lash fringe for a wide-eye look.

A new, unique, cone-shaped brush provides an extremely smooth and clean application, precisely defining even your hard-to-reach corner and bottom lashes. Combined with the exclusively developed FibreShine formula, it sculpts, curls and load each lash for the ulitmate shiny lash fringe. Lift and thicken every single lash without weighing it down. Push up your lashes for your most flirty, wide open look.

This mascara delivers every single property which the company claims, ultimate long and thick lashes with a lift, which instantly widens my eyes. I am in love with this mascara and regretting of not trying it before.

It comes in a sturdy and a nicely curved fat black tube with floral print on it. Absolutely love how gorgeous the packaging is.

Here's a close-up of the conical brush, which helps is covering the tiniest lash in the most difficult corner of the eye. Some people complain that the thicker end is too thick, but, I have no problem with that. I think it's appropriately thickened at the other end.

The formula of this mascara is not to thick nor to thin, but absolutely perfect to get the perfect volume and length. It separates and covers every single lash without clumping. The company also claims about the curling property, but, since my lashes are naturally curled, I am not sure about this property, but, it definitely gives a nice lift to my lashes and make my eyes look more wider and defined. Here is the side by side picture to show you the effect of this mascara:

I have very thinly smudged a black eye pencil in outer corner of the upper lash line. You can very clearly see how beautifully the mascara has defined my eye.

I get this effect with 2 coats of this mascara. My longest lashes in the middle had already started touching my brow bone.

It lasts whole day long on my lashes and doesn't smudge or budge, unless I am crying or something. I have to actually use a make-up remover in the evening to take it off.

The only property which could be a con to those with sensitive nose is that it has mild rose fragrance. As soon as you open the tube, you sense the lovely rose scent. It is not a con for me, in fact, I quite like it.

INR: Rs. 1650/-. expensive for a mascara but it does what it claims. Worth it, if you are ready to splurge on a mascara.

I have been using Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara for like more than 1.5 years as it gave me the perfect volume and length. Probably my all time favourite mascara. But, I was getting bored of buying and using the same product and thought of trying out a high end mascara, which I haven't for a really long time. I always wanted to try Lancôme's Hypnôse Doll Lash Effect mascara for what it claims. As I have naturally thick,  long and curled lashes, I always love to emphasize them. I am extremely happy that I bought this mascara. I feel it is way better than my Revlon Grow Luscious mascara. I am now waiting for Lancôme to launch the star mascara in India, which it says gives show-stopper volume. By that time will try the Hypnôse Drama Mascara. But, I will definitely keep buying the Doll Lash Effect Mascara.

I hope the review was helpful to you.

Have a great remaining week.

Lots of love

15 minutes of ritual with Clarins for radiant, soft and hydrated skin

Hello Everyone

Hope all of you are happy and healthy.

I usually shy away from reviewing skin care products as I am not a skin care expert, but, this ritual is so effective that I had to share with you all. After all beauty is all about a healthy, glowing skin. During the winters my skin was feeling relatively more dry than it usually gets and was also getting flaky around my lips and nose. I was on hunt of a hydrating mask and a gentle exfoliator which would help me counter dryness and flakiness but also does not cause any acne break outs.

I always swear by recommendations of magician make-up artist, a fellow blogger (Beauty-Traveller) and a dear friend Neeraj when it comes to skin care. He told me check Clarins Skin Care Range to counter all my problems. So, I went to the Clarins counter at Shoppers Stop, Juhu, to check some products to help me counter dryness and flakiness and also that does not break my acne prone skin out.

The lovely SA asked me various questions about my skin type and problems. To counter the dryness and flakiness and also to control acne, she told me this 20 min ritual, which includes three steps -
(1) exfoliation,
(2) acne treatment and
(3) hydration with a hydrating mask.
She tried it on my the back of my hand and the results were incredible and I could feel that it had transformed my dry skin into a super hydrated softer skin.

This ritual includes following three products from Clarins:

1. Clarins Gentle Peeling Smooth Away Cream
This is a creamy peeling mask which exfoliates and removes impurities leaving skin soft and radiant. Apply and keep it for just a minute and peel it off using gentle motions. It will take away all the flakiness and dead skin from the surface of the skin. I was in search of a gentle exfoliator to handle the flakiness. I am very scared of using scrubs as it always breaks me out and I end up using my facial scrub as body scrub! So, this peeling mask seem to be very exciting as it was creamy (i.e. without any granules) and was exfoliating.

Spread the mask in the center of the back of the palm
2. Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil
Now, oil for a oily, acne prone skin sounds weird, but, believe me this oil is magical.Made from real lotus extracts, this oil helps control oiliness and hence prevents acne. This oil was recommended by Neeraj and I always wanted to try. I initially tried samples and then bought it. This oil is so effective and miraculous that it calls for a separate review.

Dab just two drops of oil after warming it up between the palms on your face and kinda of push it into the skin. This helps reduce oiliness and tighten pores and also any possible break-outs due to emollients of the hydrating mask.

3. Clarins HydraQuench Cream Mask
This creamy mask helps restore the radiance and provides comfort to a dull and dehydrated skin. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and wash it with luke warm water. I got a 15 ml sample of this mask, as the SA was really generous to give me this mask to first try as I was skceptical about its performance with regards to my acne prone skin. I am extremely happy with this mask will soon by buying it myself. Once you wash off the mask, the result will be an amazingly soft, radiant and glowing skin.

You don't have to use this much. The tube squeezed a little too much product than I wanted.
Here is the side by side comparison of my before and after ritual skin of the back of my palm

Left: Before Right: After
Hope you can notice the difference between before and after pictures. The effect of this ritual is almost impossible to capture with the camera. I have been doing this ritual for almost 4 weeks, twice a week, usually on Sunday and Wednesday. I have all praises for this ritual. I have not experienced any break-outs or irritation on my acne prone oily and sensitive skin. As a matter of fact, my skin looks much healthier and radiant and I have also countered dryness and flakiness.

I will recommend this 15-20 mins skin ritual to all those who have oily acne prone skin for superior freshness, radiance and hydrated softer skin.

Do try this out and let me know if it worked for you. Also, what products have you tried from Clarins Skin Care or Make-up range. I would like to try some more products from Clarins skin care range and also from it's make-up range. Do share your experience with Clarins and your favorite products in the comments below.

Have a lovely week ahead.

Lots of Love
