MAC Lipstick "Dare You" - Review and Pictures

Hello Everyone,

Hope all of you had a great Diwali. :-)

Shy of wearing red lipstick? Here is a safe shade from MAC to start with wearing red lipstick. MAC lipstick in "Dare You" is a warm scarlet red color with tiny golden sparkles in famous Creamsheen formula. It is very wearable as the golden sparkle tones it down a little bit. The sparkles are not really visible when applied but I think they warms up the shade and gives the lipstick a golden glow, if that makes sense.

In terms of longevity, it stays put for good 5-6 hours with eating and drinking. It leaved behind stained lips and doesn't really come off with water. You have to use a make-up remover to properly remove it from the lips. To me this not a problem at all, but some of you my not always like to use use make-up remover to remove lipsticks. Awesome pigmentation and color pay-off, you just need a swipe and you are good to go.

It's great for fall/ winter seasons and an absolutely great shade for the upcoming wedding season in India. All the brides to be, it's a great shade for you! :-)

Here are some pictures and a look using this lipstick:

MAC "Going Dutch" Lipstick - Review, Pictures, Swatches and FOTD

Hello Everyone,

Hope you all are having a great week so far.

I have always been afraid of wearing frost finish lipsticks, as it always washes me out. But, Going Dutch from MAC is one lipstick which really freshens up my face unlike other frost finish lipsticks. It's a beautiful bright blue-pink shade with great longevity and awesome pigmentation, just one swipe on upper & lower lips and voila! It's already more than 4 hours I wore it and it still looks nice even after having a cup of tea with some bread toast. Looks nice on my warm skin and I am sure it would suite a wide range of skintones.

I would recommend it to everyone who love pink lipsticks. :)

Note: I couldn't see it in the MAC's website, but it's available in the stores.

Here are some pictures, swatches and a simple look wearing Going Dutch:

Just a single swipe

Hope you liked it on me. Have you tried MAC's frost finish lipsticks?

Have a great week ahead.

MAC Cream Color Base "Hush" - Review, Pictures, FOTD

Hello Everyone

Diwali is just a week away and I am sure we all are busy cleaning, shopping, making sweets and what not. My preparations are on, on a full swing and hope your preparations too are on a full swing.

Diwali comes at that time of the year when we start feeling a slight chill in the wind (not applicable for Mumbai though) and our skin starts feeling stretchy and drier. After my bath today,  my skin was a bit stretchy and thought this was appropriate time to take out my cream make-up products like blushes, highlighters, etc to get a nice glow/ dewiness on the face. (As of now, I don't own any cream blushes, though I am planning to get at least one this Diwali). Anyways, I took out my MAC Cream Color Bases and was happily seeing them that wow I will be able to use them now. Ok, so without wasting any time further, let's get on to the product.

MAC Cream Color Base (as described by MAC): Versatile and multi-purpose, Cream Colour Base can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturizer, or powder. Apply with a brush, sponge, or fingers.  Colour effects range from a light veil to highly dramatic, depending on method of application.

Fragrance-free.

The following shades are not recommended for use in lip area: Fawntastic and Black. The following shades are not recommended for use in the eye area: Fabulush and Improper Copper.

They come in a variety of 9 different shades: Luna, Pearl, Hush,  Shell, Fawntastic, Improper Copper, Seaside, Fabulush, Take Root. I have three of them, Pearl, Hush and Improper Copper.

I mainly use them as cheek highlighter. I have never tried them as an eyeshadow base, I am afraid that they would crease.

Cream Color Base "Hush"Very rightly described by MAC as Soft Peach with ice shimmer. The shimmer is so light and subtle that it actually looks good and not at all over the top. It gives a  very pretty peachy glow to your cheeks. Looks absolutely gorgeous when paired with MAC blushes like Pinch o Peach and Fleur Power. I have to try pairing them with shimmery blushes.

Staying power is really good, stays put for more than 4-5 hours on my oily skin without making it look awfully shiny. It's already more than 3 hours I applied it and looks like as if freshly applied. I have acne prone oily skin and it has never broke out on me. Though, it looks awful on me during summers. So, if you have oily skin, avoid using during summers.

It would suit a wide range of skintones and skin colors. If you want to try any Cream Color Base, Hush is a safe bet.

Do I recommend: Definitely, both the Cream Color Bases and Hush :)

Here are some pictures, swatches and me with this beauty on:

Hope you liked it on me. Have you tried Cream Color Bases, how was your experience?

Have a great hump day.

MAC eyeshadow "Twinks" - My first MAC eyeshadow

Hello Everyone,

Whatever you do for the first time in life is always memorable and unforgettable. So is with me when it comes to my first MAC purchase. My first MAC purchase being Techna Kohl liner in Black and Twinks being my one of first four eyeshadows from MAC, yep I bought a Quad when I went to MAC to store look for eyeshadows. And this SA, who is favorite, gave me Cranberry, Sable, Twinks and Antiqued eyeshadows and walked out of the store feeling proud to own 4 MAC eye shadows. I still remember that day and the twinkle in my eyes. I was so happy to own them. I am smiling when I am writing this. :D :D

Coming to the post, one of very good friends, recently made a post on Twinks eyeshadow on her blog. That made me feel nostalgic  and brought out my emotion and love for this eyeshadow. I agree with my friend that it is not a very unique color and can be easily duped. You can read her review here. But to me this not a reason enough to not like this eyeshadow, probably I am being biased as this my first ever MAC e/s or probably her particular piece was bad or whatever! I so want her to love this e/s and hence this post and FOTD.

Twinks is a plummy brown eyeshadow in Veluxe Pearl finish. Color pay off and pigmentation is like any other MAC e/s. I like it both as a lid color and as crease color. It's a versatile color and can be beautifully paired with plum eye shadows like Cranberry but also look fabulous with Pinks like Expensive Pink and  neutrals like All That Glitters. Pops up with a brown base and Artifact PP brings out the plum undertones of Twinks. Great color for brown smokey eyes. Twinks will always find it's place in my pick of top 10 neutrals from MAC.

Below are some pictures, swatches and FOTD using Twinks eyeshadow.

Products Used:
Face:
  • Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer
  • MAC Select Cover-up Concealer to hide blemishes
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation NC40
  • Shiseido Dual Balancing Foundaion O60 (last few drops remaining in the bottle)
  • MAC Blot Powder
  • MAC Blush in Fleur Power
  • Christian Dior Shimmer Powder - Amber Diamond
Eyes:
  • MAC PP in Painterly as base
  • MAC PP in Constructivist on the lids
  • MAC E/s in Twinks over the Constructivist PP
  • MAC e/s in Wedge to blend
  • MAC e/s in Smut to darken the outer V
  • MAC Brule to highlight
  • UD 24/7 eyeliner pencil in Zero on waterlines and upper lash line, smudged using MAC Handwitten
  • MAC Espresso to fill brows
  • Estee Lauder Lash Lengthening Mascara
Lips:
  • Revlon Color Burst lipstick in Soft Rose
  • Faces lipgloss in Bare Pink
Hope you guys liked it. Do you have such memories with you first make-up purchases?

Hope you are having a great week so far.

Intense sparkly-purple look for a night out - Picture Tutoral

Hey Guys,

By now you all must have known that purple is probably my favorite look. I don't know why, but I just love using purple on my eyes. I wore it last night when I went out for a fun ride with husband and some old buddies. Guys, it was crazy, we went all the way to Marine Drive, Band Stand and just roamed everywhere and ate till death.

Anyways, on to the look, the base that I used is Urban Decay 24/7 eye-liner pencil in "rockstar" which is a plumy-purple shade and the main eye shadow for the look is MAC Parfait Armour.

Here is the breakdown of the look:

Picture and swatches of products used to get this look:

From Left to Right: UD Rockstar, Parfait Armour, E/S # 1 from 120 Palette, Shiseido Hydro Powder  Rose Tulle, MAC Blush Style, MAC CCB Improper Copper
Face:

  • Eve Pearl Salmon Concealer "Dark"
  • MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation NC40
  • MAC Blot powder in Medium-Dark
  • MAC Blush in Style

  •  Start with priming your eyes with your favorite primer. I used MAC PP in Painterly.
  • Apply UD 24/7 eye-liner pencil "rockstar" all over the lid and blend it well

Unblended
Blended

  • Apply MAC e/s in Parfait Armour over the plum base
  • Blend it using e/s # 1 from 120 palette
  • Create Outer V using e/s circled (Dark blackened plum color) from the 28 neutral palette, blend it well and apply any matte white e/s as brow highlight (e/s # 2 in 120 palette). Trace the same dark plum color under the lower lashline, as shown in the third pic below.
Outer V
Blended Outer V
  • Apply UD 24/7 rockstar in the lower water line. Tightline using UD 24/7 in Zero, black gel eye-liner on the upper lashline (MAC Blactrack used here) and apply good two coats of Mascara. Take Hydro Powder eye shadow in Rose Tulle (sparkly pink shade) in the inner corner and on the highest point of your brow arch. And finally fill in your brows. I have used MAC e/s Espresso.

Lips:
  • Apply NYX Lips pencil in Natural all over the lips
  • Lightly dab MAC lipstick in Hibiscus
  • Apply MAC lipglass in Nymphette

Hope you all liked the look and will try it out. Hope you all had a great Saturday night and are having a great Sunday.

Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

Hey beautiful ladies,

Hope you all are happy and healthy.

Worldwide October is marked as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's a campaign organised by various Breast Cancer charities every October to increase awareness on the disease and raise funds for research into it's cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure.

In 1993 Evelyn Lauder, Senior Corporate Vice President of the Estée Lauder Companies founded The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and established the pink ribbon as its symbol, though this was not the first time the ribbon was used to symbolize breast cancer. In the fall of 1991, the Susan G. Komen Foundation had handed out pink ribbons to participants in its New York City race for breast cancer survivors.

The Estée Lauder Companies and Phillips have come together to illuminate around 200 Global Landmarks across the world in Pink, as part of their Global Breast Cancer Awareness Program.
